CDS (Common Defence Services) is common entrance exam for Graduate Male and Female Candidates to join Indian Military Academy (IMA). IMA or Indian Military Academy is in Dehradun, Uttarakhand. Candidates need to work hard to prepare for CDSE to join IMA (DE). CDS is conducted twice a year (in May/June and November/December) at the national level by the Union Public Service Commission to select its officers for the above-mentioned courses. After CDS exam, students who qualify for this written exam get a call letter for an SSB interview. The successful students after SSB undergo medical test and then the final merit list is made on the basis of their written, interview and medical test. For Flying Branch, there is another test PABT which is part of SSB. PABT stands for Pilot Aptitude Battery Test. After qualifying all these stages, the finally selected candidates will get direct entry in IMA Dehradun.

Examination Details

CDS Exam takes entry to Indian Military Academy, Indian Naval Academy and Air force Academy and also to Officers Training Academy. The Written exam for IMA, INA and AFA have also three sections i.e Mathematics, English and GK, whereas written exam for OTA has only English and GK Sections

Eligibility :

• The candidates must be an Indian national to apply for CDSE/OTA.
• The candidates who belong to Nepal, Bhutan & Tibetan refugee, Burma, East African countries of Kenya, the United Republic of Tanzania, Malawi, Ethiopia, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Uganda, Zambia, Zaire and Vietnam can also apply for the examination (provided they fulfill the eligibility criteria as per the rules of Govt. of India.
• The age of the candidates should be from 20 to 24 years.
• The candidates must be unmarried as well.
• For IMA, the candidates must have a Graduation degree or equivalent from a recognized University.
• For Naval, the candidates should have a Bachelor’s degree in B.Sc with Physics and Mathematics as subjects OR Bachelor’s Degree in Eng.
• For Airforce, the candidates must have qualified Graduation degree from a recognized University with Physics and Mathematics OR Eng. Degree.
• The candidates appearing in the final year of Bachelor’s degree are also eligible to apply (provided they have to submit the proof of passing the examination).
• The candidates also have to be physically fit as per the standards of the Ministry of defence.
