Eligibility
10+2 Science with Physics, Chemistry, Maths and English.
=> An entrance examination is conducted, usually in the month of May every year.
=>Important institutes like R.L. Institute of nautical sciences, conduct an all India level online test to gauge the knowledge of students in Psychometric and IQ awareness.
=>One needs to qualify the Joint Entrance Examination conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) that assesses the candidate’s knowledge of physics, chemistry and mathematics.
=>The examination is followed by personal interviews/counseling, where the interviewers assess the degree of alertness, and awareness of the external environment in the candidates and their suitability for such a career.
Career Path
=> 4 months – Pre-sea Training
=> 8 months – First Sea Phase with SSTP
=> COC Preparatory Course, Exam Oral / STCW course, receive COC3
=> 18 months – sea time COC Class 2 &1 Preparatory Course
=> Exam Oral and receive COC2
=> 18 months sea time COC Class 1 Preparatory Course
=> Exam Oral and receive COC1
=> 2 weeks Chief Engineer Oral
=> Chief Engineer
